Both boys decided to participate in UIL this year. Camo chose to participate in Chess. It isn't traditional chess, it is more of a puzzle game where you use the strategy to guess the next move on the worksheet. It's very complex and we are so proud he wanted to try. He competed against 2nd and 3rd graders and was the top candidate from Dobbs to go participate in the district level. As he didn't place in the district level we were so thrilled at his accomplishments and determination to try.
This was Jaxson's third year to participate in UIL, second year to do oral reading, and first year to place. His is a story of perseverance and not giving up and letting defeat keep you from trying again. He tried again and not only placed, but placed 2nd in the district for his grade level. Wow! He is so proud and we are so proud that he didn't give up. Today we celebrate the win but we also celebrate the perseverance.
